Perforated Tympanic Membrane

Dry ear precautions: Recommend patients to use an ear plug to prevent water from entering the ear. For showers, a cotton ball coated with Vaseline can prevent water from entering the ear.

Prescription: Ciprodex otic drop prescription (4 drops into affected ear, twice per day)

Otitis Externa

Standard topical management and evaluation.

Impacted Cerumen

Standard removal protocols apply prior to specialist referral unless removal is complicated.

Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Sudden hearing loss should be evaluated with formal audiogram to confirm type of hearing loss (conductive vs sensorineural).

If sensorineural hearing loss is confirmed, oral steroids should be started as soon as possible.

Patients can be referred to us urgently for consideration of adjuvant therapies (intratympanic steroid injection and/or hyperbaric oxygen).

Epistaxis

Standard management for anterior or posterior bleeds.

Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

Please refer these cases specifically to Dr. Sing.
